I took advange of Miami Dade's Library Museum Pass:

The Museum Pass offers patrons FREE admission for a family of four to the Deering Estate at Cutler, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, Fruit & Spice Park, HistoryMiami, Miami Art Museum, Miami Children's Museum, Miami Science Museum and Vizcaya Museum and Gardens.

My goal is to check out a pass on a monthly basis. This is another reason to love my public libaray.

The Adrienne Arsht Center Family Fest 2012. (It's a fun-filled day full of music, dancing, hands-on demonstrations, and mini-workshops)

Gracie enjoyed making a tambourine, getting her face painted and dancing to music.

My daughter went to her first symphony during Family Fest. I don't think my daughter is a fan of classical music. In the middle of the symphony performance she screams out "I don't want this." Talk about being embarrassed! However, she fell fall fast asleep shortly after making the shout-out.

I'm having a hard time keeping up with my weekly posts. Life has been extremely busy these last couple of weeks. However, this is one event I have to record. My sister (Tricia) just gave birth to her second child on 01/07/12 in Cape Town South Africa. The crazy thing about this birth, is she gave birth to her daughter on the same day her son was born. Yes folks, the kids share the same BIRTHDAY! I'm really excited for my sister because she was praying for a second healthy child.

New Years Eve was a quiet evening at the Lopez residence. My husband cooked and we gave each other messages after Gracie went to sleep. We stayed up to watch the NYC Time Square Ball fall as we zipped champagne.

On New Years Day, My husband took me to an amazing Broadway production. He took me to see A Million Dollar Quartet. This gift was a great stocking stuffer and a memorable way to ring in the New Year.

The day after New Years, My cousin, Danny, came over for dinner with his girlfriend. He is in the process of building a house about an hour away from us. I officially have family who lives in Florida now.

Christmas Day 2011

Christmas this year did not go as planned. My daughter ended up in the Emergency Room Christmas Eve. She was diagnosed with Croup. I was unable to bake cookies for Santa Christmas Eve because Gracie was extremely sick that day. So we did the next best thing, Santa ate the gingerbread house instead. (This will become our new tradition)

Graciela gave up her pacifiers (“bobo’s”) this Christmas too. We told her Santa was going take them and leave her toys on Jesus’s Birthday. We placed them in a bowl and left them on the table Christmas Eve for Santa to take. She cried about this the first night, and sobbed the second night, but she realized that she can go to sleep without it and is now free of them.

RIP: My uncle Victor (on my mother’s side of the family) passed away the day after Christmas. May Peace go out to my family members who are mourning for their loss.

My brother was rushed to the hospital two days before Christmas and he spent Christmas eve and Christmas day at a hospital in New Orleans. They operated on him the day after Christmas. I’m grateful for all the prayers you sent him. The procedure was a success and nothing in life is more valuable in life than one’s health.

Despite the extended family drama, I did have a wonderful Christmas with my family. I asked Santa for a spa gift card and a date with my hubby.Well, I was surprised when I unwrapped my own personal massage table; which after a few massages I realize that I can not live without. I also received three date nights in Miami in the form of Broadway tickets for the Million Dollar Quartet, Come Fly with me and the Lion King. All performances will take place at our beautiful downtown Miami theater, the Adrienne Archst Center. I have already booked the babysitter.

I also received two family nights for 2012; tickets to the circus (Ringling Bros) and tickets to a Miami Heat home game against the Orlando Magic (this will be Graciela’s and my first NBA game).

As for my husband, he finally got a set of four 3D glasses for our TV. Adam spent Christmas day playing with his new toy.

On Saturday (12/17/11), My daughter had her Christmas School concert. Gracie and her classmates were jumping all over the stage during their performance that I laughed so hard I actually deleted all the pictures/ video I took of the event. I was really sad that I lost these memories on camera. My husband, however; was able to recover a few of the pictures I took but the video is gone forever. He spent hours trying to retrieve what I deleted. When he gave me these pictures, My face lit up like a Kid On Christmas Morning. Thank you sweetie for the hours you spent recovering these few photo's...YOUR THE BEST!!!!

After the concert, Gracie and I went to see the 3D Holiday Lights at Miami Metro Zoo. What a day & night to remember!

Bike Riding Weekend

This weekend my husband put together my new birthday gift. I think my daughter enjoyed it more than I did.

My husband made my birthday very special this year. He took me out to eat at Los Ranchos and surprised me with a massage. He also got me a bike trailer and the blu- ray Twilight series.

My close friends and family made my birthday very special this year too. I can't wait to use all the gift cards I received on Black Friday.

I feel very blessed and I'm grateful for all things that God has given me.

My daughter got so jealous that my husband got me a birthday cake. She said, "Mommy, it's Gracie's birthday." She started singing Happy Birthday to herself. We busted up laughing. LOL

I started the 3rd Harry Pottery book this week. I'm really getting into them.

I 'm not a coffee drinker but I Love Tazo Chi (Indian Spice Tea). My husband has been telling me that I need to stop going to Starbucks everyday ($4.50) for my caffeine fix. He (hubby) actually found this organic tea @ our local super market and it just as good/ if not better than Starbucks. I'm now saving about $25 a week by only going to Starbucks once a week.

As for the wine, I'm not much of a drinker but I love wine. This wine (Presque Isle) is one of my NEW favorite white wines (Lake Erie/ Riesling). YUMMY

My New Years Resolution for 2011 was to learn how to meditate. It has taken me 7months to learn how to quiet my mind for 15-20 minutes daily. I think it's easier to train for a marathon then it is to meditate. Some may say this is not an accomplishment, however, I feel like I've gained world.

Lion Country Safari 2011

The Lion Country Safari is Florida's only drive-through safari and walk-through amusement park. I've never been to a drive-through (with your own car) safari before. It was an amazing experience to see animals walking around your car so freely.

While I was taking this video, my daughter was in the back seat of the car telling the monkey to sit down. (She thought he was going to fall and hurt himself)

The History behind "Jesus Loves Me"

Every night when I put my daughter to sleep we sing this song instead of saying a prayer. I think singing songs before bed has made bedtime a fun experience in our household.

Why this song is so popular:

This song first appeared in a poem in 1860 by a women named Susan Warner. A tune was added in 1862 by William Bradbury who created this song for a child who was very ill and dying. On Father's Day, we took Graciela to see Sesame Street Live. My husband wanted to go even though the show was on Father's Day.

Beach Bum Weekend (Key Biscayne)

We spent Saturday afternoon on the beach. Bill Baggs Florida Cape State Park has the best beach in Miami, FL.

Moments to Remember:
My daughter broke out in hives on her upper legs. We just found out she is allergic to seaweed!!!

This is a historic lighthouse built in 1825. It is the oldest standing structure in Miami-Dade County

My daughter loves to dress up. She puts this dress and shoes on everyday after school. She would live in this outfit if I let her.

A Miami Seaquarium Weekend

We went to Miami Seaquarium this weekend. It is nothing compare to Sea World in Orlando, FL; however, it does have a killer whale and dolphin show. This is the only place you can see a show like this in the United States.

Moments to remember:

I thought my daughter was going to love the whale and dolphin show. She got really scared when the whale jumped out of the water splashing everyone. Graciela looked at her daddy and asked, "Is the dolphins okay?" My daughter really thought the whale was hurting the little dolphins.

Graciela touched a turtle for the first time.

We also observed a deer and sea turtle swimming together. (I was in awe)

Memorial Day Weekend

On Memorial Day weekend, we took a glass bottom boat tour at John Pennekamp Coral State Park. I had been dying to check out the coral reefs in the Keys. What makes the coral reefs of Florida so unique is they are the only living coral in North America and it's ranked 3rd in the world. John Pennekamp Coral State Park is the first underwater park in the United States. Activities at the park include: snorkeling tours, diving tours, boat rentals, fishing, camp grounds, kids aquarium and public beach.

Moments to remember:

We had a great time on the boat tour until Graciela got sea sick. She threw up all over me.

During the weekend, we also purchased a summer saving passes for Lion Country Safari, Miami Seaquarium, Museum of Discovery & Science and Miami Metro Zoo.

We spent Sunday afternoon at Miami Metro Zoo in the kids zone.

The festival had a wide variety of great food, Live music and Entertainment.

(A classic car show, arts and crafts, a children's play area, kids petting zoo, pony rides and much more) This was a great way to spend a Lazy, Sunday afternoon.

Review: On a hot day in May there is nothing better for cooling off than a swim with the Dolphins and Stingrays! The last stop on our cruise was in Grand Cayman. My husband and I decided to visit the Grand Cayman Turtle Farm and Swim with the dolphins and stingrays at Dolphin Discovery. It was an amazing experience. We were able to pet, kiss and ride the dolphins. We also enjoyed interacting with the sea turtles and stingrays. It was alot to do in one day but so worth it!!!

We departed from Miami, FL (Carnival Glory) on a 7 day cruise. Our first stop was at Cozumel, Mexico. My hubby and I did an excursion to the Mayan Ruins of Tulum. We went to the ruins as part of a cruise excursion. Review: Our guide was remarkable, giving us a historical perspective of the Mayan culture. I learned a lot about this era in history. This site is perched above the coast and is very beautiful even without the historical aspect. TIP: Take your bathing suit and towel because the beach protected by this amazing ruin situated above the Caribbean Ocean is spectacular.

Cruise moments to remember:

By the second day of our cruise, my daughter was calling the waves tigers and saying "Roar" to describe how the ocean sounds to her.

My daughter sang "Happy Birthday to me" every time we gave her cake and ice-cream on the cruise. Graciela doesn't get to eat cake and ice-cream often so she was in heaven since she ate it everyday on our vacation.

The chocolate in Mexico was so good. It's much creamer and less sweeter then here in the US.

My daughter took over my new ipad on the cruise. She said "Momma, ABC or my iphone" to indicate that she wanted to play the preschool games on it. I was unable to read my e-books since she took it over.

My daughter loved Camp Carnival (The daycare on the ship). Camp Carnival had programs for kids 2-5, 6-8, 9-11 and for the teenagers. Daycare started @ 7:30am -10pm. Anything after 10pm, they charged you $6 and hour. Graciela asked everyday to go play with the kids in Camp Carnival.

Graciela was able to spend time with her Godparents (Titi Sarah and Tio Aitor) because they joined us on this voyage.

Earth Day at the Miami Metro Zoo!!!

By recycling our old cell phones , we were able to get into the zoo for free this past weekend.

Graciela had a great time playing in the water park and picking flowers.

On Sunday, My husband took me to see the broadway play WICKED. It was AMAZING.

My thoughts:
Many of the performances were fantastic but I was blown away by the woman playing Elphaba-she was simply incerdible. I give it ***** (5 stars) !!!

Ear Piercing Weekend

For the past two weeks, my daughter has asked me to get her ears pierced. We made a date on Sunday (03/10/11) to get them done. She picked pink flower earrings.

We celebrated my hubby's birthday party after a Boston Celtic verses Miami Heat basketball game. Miami Heat Won this weekend!!! Yeah

Puerto Rico was beautiful. I enjoyed visiting family and friends. The food was amazing, the weather was perfect and I didn't have to do any household chores for five-days. What more could I ask for. Seriously, I really needed this mini-vacation. It was the perfect Valentines Gift.

First Rodeo 2011

It was Graciela's and my first time going to a live Rodeo. Homestead FL, is known for it's Farms, Parks and Rodeo's. It was a really awesome experience. Graciela loved the petting zoo and horse back riding. There is nothing like old fashion country "Latin" cooking. I was so stuffed when I left. I can't wait to go again next year. My hubby is taking me to Puerto Rico for a 5 night valentines get away. A nice part about this trip is that my best friend (Diane) is meeting me there for a few days. I have not seen her since my wedding day.

In April, We are going to Port St. Charlotte for a weekend get away. I'm meeting up with a close friend (Laurieann) of mine and her family.

In May, we are taking a 7 night cruise to Central America. My daughter's Godparents are joining us on this voyage. We will be visiting Cozumel (Mexico), Isla Roatan (Honduras), Belize, and Grand Cayman Island. We were going to take a Disney Cruise or Dream Work Cruise but we felt that Graciela is still too young to remember the experience.

My daughter loves Sesame Street. One of her favorite Muppet's is Abby Cadabby. This past weekend, I started planning her birthday party. She will turn 2 years old in March. Graciela's Godmother, Sarah, will be traveling from Albany for this event. I'm also planning a princess birthday party for her at school with her friends.

This is the cake topper. I'm just going to buy a party cake at BJ's and then put this cake topper on it with her name. I think this is a great way to save money and still have the perfect cake.

Ringling Bros & Barnum & Bailey Circus 2011

We took Graciela to the circus this past weekend. I forgot how amazing this show is. It's a must see event. The show is equally entertaining for both kids and adults. I was too mesmerize to even take pictures. I took a few shots but not as many I should or could have taken.

Snow in Miami, NOT

Graciela saw snow for the first time after Church last Sunday. Our church (Christ Fellowship), put together a winter wonderland for the children to play in with real snow flurries (man made snow of course). As snow fell down, Graciela was mesmerized. Usually the only thing cold and wet that falls from the sky in Miami is rain...(which she calls Agua). She was lost for words when this new white stuff came falling on top of her. The kids at church had a great time playing in the snow. Mind you, it was 52 degrees last Sunday so the snow did not just melt away.

Graciela's New "Big Girl" Room (video)

This was a bitter/sweet phase in my life. It was sad taking Graciela's infant room and making it into a "Big Girl" room. The only thing left in her room from the infant room is the hamper, infant quilt, rug, wooden wall name and doll house bookshelf. They grow so fast!!!

After Graciela opened her gifts, we took her to see her "new room". For the past two weeks, she had been sleeping in the guest bedroom. She was shocked and full of excitement when she first walked in her room. She did not want to leave her room at all Christmas Day.

6 months ago, I told my husband that I wanted to get Graciela a playbed. After seaching on-line for the perfect bed, we never could decide on one that was safe enough for a 2-year-old & up. A month later, my husband comes to me with a blue print he design to build the bed himself. I was taken back a little because he never built a bed before. However, I let him build it. We decided that we were going to give Graciela this bed for Christmas. Her bedroom theme is "It's a Small world After All". I can honetly say that he did an amazing job. Thanksgiving was done in style (my style). I spent the day in my PJ's while my hubby cooked a Thanksgiving feast. I spent the day watching the Wizard of OZ and Jungle Book with my daughter. I went to sleep early and headed off at 12am to rock the black "Friday Sales".

Over the weekend we put up our Christmas decorations. I wrapped all the Christmas presents and got professional holiday pictures taken at Sears.

My sister, Tricia, and her family came to visit us this past week. In January (2011),they are moving to South Africa for a two year mission trip. It was really nice to spend some time with them before they leave.

We spent Halloween at Jungle Island in down town Miami. Graciela had a blast trick or treating and observing all the exotic animals there. There was a great petting zoo where you were able to pet baby kangaroo's. It was the perfect place to take a 19 month old for a not so scary Halloween.

Graciela is 90% potty trained

Labor Day Weekend 2010

It's become a family tradition to spend our Labor Day weekend in Disney World. Graciela favorite attractions this year @ Disney was the Electric Day Parade, Safari Parade and playing in the splash parks in Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. Graciela favorite attractions at Sea World was the Dolphin & Whale show and feeding the Dolphins exhibit.

One magical moment of our trip was when Graciela recognized Mickey Mouse and associated it with having fun!!! She pointed at a sign with Micky on it and said "Wee...Wee" (Priceless)

Potty Training: Graciela is now telling us when she has to go potty. It's a hit or miss with her. Graciela will say "pipi" when she either needs to go potty or after she has already went potty in her diaper. Either way...we are making progress.

Every time I bend down, Graciela will come over and tap me on the buttocks. LOL

Graciela's favorite animal is the Lion. Everyday she runs around the house saying "roar". She tries to scare Adam and I. She has such a sense of humor. We had to get this outfit for her dress up collection.

A co-worker of mine gave me her kids old bathroom theme. I kept putting off buying a bathroom theme for Graciela because I couldn't find one that I really liked. Well, I feel blessed right now. The ducky theme is perfect for a boy or girl and it was in mint condition.

I'm so proud to announce the birth of Nicholas Vincent on 07/27/10 @ 7lbs 9oz & 19.5 inches. One of my close (childhood) friends just gave birth yesterday to a beautiful baby boy. I'm sad that I was unable to be at the hospital (Albany, NY) with my girlfriend. I love living here in Miami, FL but the disadvantage is living so far away from close friends. Graciela got her first kiddie cone today from Cold Stone.

We watched the Fireworks from our back yard in our PJ's...It's was sooooo much fun

I asked Graciela to smile for the camera and she decided to wave instead...LOL

On Saturday, We spent the day with our close friends that live in Boca Raton.

Graciela's New Stomping Ground

My hubby put this swing set together for Graciela for the past three weeks. He worked on it a couple of hours everyday. I'm really impressed at how great it came out. Graciela loves her new outside "stomping ground". Every time she goes down the slide, she says, "Weeeeee." She loves to play in the sand box and swing on her swing. Adam told me that he would finish this project by the 4th of July 2010 and he was. This weekend I'll have to take a video of Graciela going down the slide.

Movie of the week: Eclipse...I went to see it with my co-workers this past week.

The movie was really good. It was better then the last two in the saga.
